THE ARTEMIS: ROCKETRY PROJECT

"The Artemis" is the name of the rocket I created with a team for a class rocketry project in my second year of engineering at the Dr. James A. Forrest Career and Technology Center. My team consisted of myself and two other women, and our mutual love of the film "October Sky" inspired us to name our team "The Rocket Girls" - directly after the original "Rocket Boys" depicted in the film. The class rocketry unit spread over the course of about three months, complete with part research, designing, prototyping, and launching.

Project Synopsis

The focus of this project was to design and create a rocket with a custom cargo compartment to carry and protect cargo during and after launch. The cargo of choice was a quail egg, and the end-goal achievements consisted of the rocket being capable of multiple flights, reaching a certain altitude, and protecting the egg from detrimental damage.

Featured here is a copy of the rocket's design proposal. The specific measurements of parts, the research behind the part design, and the justification of the cargo compartment are all discussed.

Featured here is a folder containing PDFs of the final part drawings for the rocket. My primary role within the team was the "Master Draftsman". While designing and building the parts via SolidWorks was a responsibility across all team members, I was responsible for creating the final part drawings for every piece of the rocket.
